Days 25, 26 & 27 - Plant City & St. Pete

Image
We packed up on day 25 to move to our new location in Plant City.  We had a short 2 hour drive so it was a leisurely pack up for a change.    Along the way we found the cutest little French bakery out in the middle of nowhere!  Michelle saw sign, hit the brakes hard and did a quick turn into the parking lot!       The inside of the bakery was a combination antique store and heavenly baked goods.  Walking in, there was the delicious smell of baking bread, and the cases were full of crispy croissants and other pastries.   We ended up with a loaf of garlic sourdough bread, a Bavarian cream eclair, spinach and ricotta croissant, almond croissant, and a walnut cream swirl.  Sadly the baked goods didn’t last long enough for a picture.  We did get one picture of the eclair. We looked up a dog beach to take Sunshine for a walk and found this cool dog b...

Day 24 in St. Augustine, FL

Image
A beautiful day was in the forecast so we had a quick cup of coffee at camp and headed out for a day in St. Augustine.  Michelle found some cool yarn for sale on Facebook marketplace and it was on our way to st Augustine, so we made a stop there on our way.   Map of the area Carmen has several tee shirts from A1A Alehouse, from his Mom’s travels so we stopped there first for a late breakfast/early lunch.  Michelle had her favorite meal of shrimp & grits and a Bloody Mary. Carmen had grilled shrimp and a fried polenta cake with an IPA. We then took a short walk to Dog Rose Brewing and sampled some of their beer on a flight while hanging out on the patio. Flagler College which was originally a hotel.   Carmen taking a cigar break with the other old men.  A cool shopping area with a good variety of shops, restaurants and bars.  The oldest school ...

Day 23 a trip to Juniper Springs, FL

Image
After a high 30's temperature night. We got up, had coffee and breakfast, and worked on crochet and leather until just after noon. During this time one of the campground neighbors and her husband enjoyed riding bicycles around the small loop of the camp ground. This sends them right by our camp site about every 60 seconds for a about 7 laps. Carmen decided after they passed the first time to put on a funny hat for their next pass. Then we switched hats and acted like nothing had happened. Still working away on our projects. This went on over and over until Carmen had completely gone through every item of clothing he had brought to make for a new complete outfit each time they passed. It was a good laugh to say the least.  Carmen trying to act normal... After our shenanigans were complete and our projects completed, or at a good stopping point, we hit the road to go for a swim. Not far away is the beautiful state park of Juniper Springs, FL. We arrived and we're gree...

Day 22 set up at Lake George State Forest

Image
After a quite chilly night. We woke up and got a brisk start packing things into the Jeep for our move to Lake George looking forward to this being the end of the cold snap hopefully. The drive was a quick hour and twenty minutes but when we arrived at the free camp site (reservation required) there was a couple occupying the site already and had made themselves right at home with what little they had. We agreed to move along and leave them the site, continuing on we headed to the south end of the lake for a different site with a little more traffic from the state officials. Our new location wasn't free but close. At under 9 dollars a day to have a clean portable toilet and a pump well with non potable water available and other like minded campers nearby (much better vibes here than the free site with squatters) we were happy to call this campground home for our next three days. Here are some photos of camp and a fun time lapse video of the tent setup. Thanks for tuning in. Camp mo...

Day 19, 20, 21 Palm Bluff Conservation Area

Image
We began our next day with coffee and breakfast prepared on the wood stove. After a pleasant beginning to the day we headed off toward New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach, FL on the ocean side of the state. Our plan for today is explore and make connections for possible sales in the future. Stopping by a few flea/farmers markets and local shops to get an idea of the market in the area.  The picture doesn't do it justice, the massive roof in this picture is a maze of buildings all connected to make the most massive semi permanent flea market I have ever experienced. Daytona flea market. Dayton speedway as we passed by Birthplace of NASCAR speedway entrance Daytona beach "world's most famous beach" Some don't know but NASCAR was born on daytona beach. Also the major auto companies we know today's founders battled for the fastest times racing down the beach setting the long standing land speed record around 275mph (r...
