Day 33-39 South Florida

We left the Tampa area to head south and meet up with our friend Tasha who was heading down from Syracuse to spend some time with us.

We met her at Miami airport and brought her back to our “home base” in Homestead, FL.   Carmen dressed for the occasion.

Of course our first stop was a brewery!  We stopped in at Lincoln’s Beard for some tasty IPAs.

Cool murals on the walls!

For Tasha’s second day here we headed to Key West to show her some of our favorite places from our last visit.

It was a beautiful day at the southern most point.

Drinking Pina Coladas for our stroll around.  It’s pretty cool that there are bars in the street serving drinks to walk around with!

Rainbow crosswalks 🌈

Seemed to be a fitting sign!

We hung out at our favorite Key West bar called Schooners Wharf and actually stopped there for lunch and went back for live music and drinks later in the evening.   For lunch we had oysters, shrimp and chicken wings!

Hanging out of the beach with Sunshine in Key West.  Love this picture that Tasha took!

The Miami area had rain on Tasha’s third day so we packed up the car and headed to Marco Island.  It was much more developed than a lot of my favorite places and there was hardly any public beach access.  Plus they are strict about no dogs on the beach, so I carried sunshine in the backpack and her little feet never touched the sand.  The whole place was a little too “Gucci” for us (to quote my buddy Jen)

We did stop at a bar that called itself a brewery but they mostly had other breweries beer on tap.   The food was delicious though!

Key lime pie, and coconut cream pie
On Tasha’s last day we headed back to Miami to drop her off and spent the morning in Miami Beach.

The beach was gorgeous!!

We were a colorful duo!

We toured the Art Deco district to view some of the beautiful old hotels along the beach

Brunch along the beach with the coolest Bloody Mary with ceviche and tequila!

Overview of breakfast. Eggs, lox and sourdough toast; and eggs benedict with a delicious bloody mary.
Headed back over the bridge from Miami Beach to Miami.
Thanks for tuning in!
