Days 15 Gainesville day trip
We planned a trip up to near by Gainesville, FL for day 15. Having several places we wanted to check out recommended by family and friends. Another trip being planned for Crystal River, FL for day 16, home of the manatee.
Our first stop on our trip to Gainesville, FL is a well known pizza joint called Satchel's Pizza. The setting is relaxed and the pizza is decent. The dough being the star (coming from a NYS pizza lover this means alot) we enjoyed a couple slices and documented our stop before continuing on.

After our pizza appetizer we continue on our tour of Gainesville, FL. To a unique spot so busy it isn't open on weekends! This stop is on any true burger lovers bucket list. Mac's Drive Thru is an iconic burger joint with exceptional food and service, bit the prices cannot be beaten.

The 4 ordering speakers taking orders steadily to organize a flow of customers seamlessly along to their window for prompt pickup.
Small, to the point menu. A very wise Man once told me "Pick one product and do it better than anyone else" (part of a recipe for a successful restaurant) they did exactly this. And the steady line of customers with efficient process keeps the prices fair and customers returning.
Double cheeseburger with everything (under $5)
After the top notch cheeseburger we continue on to find an amazing sub shop we intended on getting a sub and eating it later for dinner at camp. But that quickly changed when we had to take a fresh couple bites of this 9 inch sub from Hogan's in Gainesville, FL.

Very affordable prices seems to be a thing down here. Not a complaint at all.
The star of the show! A 9 inch italian meat combo (combo #1) only half got saved for dinner. It was too good to stop at a bite or two, even though we were quite full after pizza and burgers.
After our tour of Gainesville, FL we return to camp to the sweet sounds of our "boondocking" neighbors generator cranked up from 8am til 8pm nightly. I must say the steady hum really adds to the outdoor experience and sounds of the thousands of birds utilizing the river right here at camp. (end rant).
Boondocking neighbors rarely leave the inside of the bus they parked just right for a view of the vault toilets. Or maybe they wanted the view of the river through the windshield so they could enjoy it inside, away from the steady hum of the generator. (It took 45 mins and about 6 attempts from all angles to accomplish this park job) (true end of rant)
After a few games of cards and chinese checkers the silence struck (8pm) and it was time to rest up for another day of beautiful sights planned for tomorrow. Thanks for tuning in!
Omg...I am thrilled you went to Satchel's , Mac's & Hogans! Brings tears to my eyes. Was there still a crazy gift shop out back at Satchels? And was there an army hideout smoking area out back of Hogan's? I'm thrilled you saw the amazing drive-thru activity at Mac's, too! Love Mom
