Day 6 Flamingo, Everglades National Park

Our last full day of camping in the Everglades National Park started out nice and slow in the tent.  I gotta say that Sunshine has been a real trooper, she’s much easier to travel with than I ever expected.  She loves sleeping in the tent, waking up with us and going on every adventure we plan for the day.

We borrowed the canoe again today and went out on the wider waterway that leads from the marina.  There were lots of crocodiles in all sizes on this trip!

Cool looking trees with their roots in the water.

Our last full day here in the Everglades was a warm one. Still the same 85 degree weather, but the steady breeze has just about completely gone away. We went for a nice hike before packing the majority of camp before sundown to try and get an early start for Day 7, the drive on the Overseas Highway to Key West, FL.

  2. Awesome....I love the doggie backpack. Forgot to mention...be careful of the Spanish Moss, type of air plant hanging on the trees.Usually full of chiggers!. Don't lay on it, use it as a pillow, stand under it in the breeze....you could get them. Look them up. Disgusting situation. I've had them before. On legs, after helping G'pa wash windows. Amongst brush around his house in 2008. Happy trails!

    1. We didn't have any issues this far. Keeping clear of the moss, enjoying it from afar. Love ya!
