Day 3 Arrival, Flamingo Everglades National Park, FL

We hit the road at a decent hour in the morning. Knowing we have quite a drive with a few stops along the way, before our arrival at Flamingo, Everglades National Park, FL. traveling the coast down I-95 we didn't get to see the ocean at all. The sides of the roads are trees and shrubs with just shy of no reference to a location. No visible houses or roads just jungle. The map on gps shows many roads, sometimes close to the highway but there is no sign of them as we travel along. We are excited to get off the highway and explore florida all the way back north through the state. 

We had read about a fruit stand located in Homestead, FL just outside the Everglades park. "Robert is here" fruit and veggie stand was quite impressive to say the least. This stand was started 61 years ago by a young boy selling cucumber at his roadside table. His father made a sign that said Robert is here is an arrow. By the time Robert had reached 15 years of age he had opened this roadside stand as a fruits and vegetables mini market growing alot of his own products. We stopped to gather some fruits for breakfast during our stay.

We arrived at our campsite for the New Year beginning and the weekend just before sun down. We got the tent and the essential supplies set up and called it good for the night. We were more than ready to relax. The trip south through Florida was a long one. 

In the morning we completed camp setup and planned a couple hikes over fresh fruits and coffee with the park map handy.
