Day 10 Homestead/Key Largo

For our full day in Homestead, FL. We decided to go on a snorkeling tour of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park (Key Largo about 25 mins from camp). To do this we had to put Sunshine up in "The Puppy Motel" just down the road from the state park. We didn't get a whole ton of amazing wildlife pictures at this park due to it being an Underwater State Park and our lack of an underwater camera. That being said we did get a few of our day. Take a look...

Breakfast of fruit, eggs, coffee and toast
After a delicious breakfast we headed to the beach to do a little snorkeling while we waited for our appointment to be brought out to the Reef by shuttle boat.

Beach for snorkeling warm ups

The boat ride to the Reef

A beautiful panoramic view of the Beach area

Just got back on the boat after snorkeling the reef. Headed back to shore in a moment

A view from the boat

Some dolphins where spotted frolicking about, as we passed by on the boat ride.

The Reef from the boat. You can see a couple of heads snorkeling around if you look really close. The super dark area is the reef. The lighter color is the sand highways that the barracuda and sharks travel looking for food along the edges of the reef.

A view of sunset as we left Key Largo headed back to camp in Homestead for the night.
Tonight we will do a pre packing of the Jeep to get a jump start on our long journey North by way of the gulf coast. Final destination, Northeast of Tampa for our next stay of 7 nights. This site is on Southwest Florida water management lands. That means free camping! No toilet or shower available but we are prepared for our journey. Thanks for tuning in.
